The Facts are I struggled
to build a great physique...
Some people have a really hard time believing how much I struggled to gain muscle. I started as a scrawny teenager that had to eat almost perfectly to gain the smallest amount of muscle yet for some strange reason I would gain fat if I even looked at junk food. When it game to genetics for being in shape I was batting zero.
It took me almost 10 years of the most grueling diets and training program to win my first bodybuilding contest. It took a total of 16 years to win a national championship and go to my first Mr. Universe World Championships.
Getting in shape didn’t come easy for me but the 20 plus years of trial and error sure made me a great coach. Most of my clients now do what I did in 5 years in just one. But before I get into that let me share you some really dark secrets that few people know...
The Road to the Mr. Universe contest was not everything I hoped for; my quest for “cosmetic physical perfection” had a huge price. During the contest preparation I submitted myself to 11 months of the most brutal diet and exercise regimens you can imagine.
After the contest I was so burned out mentally, physically and emotionally I wasn’t able to train. I couldn’t stop eating as my body was overcompensating for the months and months of starvation. I promptly gained 42 pounds of fat and water in just 11 weeks. I literally went from Mr. Universe to Mr. Marshmallow.
I was crushed, disappointed, and disillusioned by the sport but I was not going to let any setback stop me from achieving and maintaining my dream physique because...
I knew there was a better way,
an easier way and most of all
a healthier way.
Little did I know that the post contest meltdown would become a blessing in disguise.
You see like most people I thought if I was really fit I had to be healthy, boy was I wrong!
This may sound familiar to you because I was caught in the work harder, eat less, be more disciplined, be more focused and be more determined than anybody else and I would reach my goals.
This philosophy seemed to work for awhile but it’s this mentality that got me and so many high performance athletes and executives in so much trouble with their health when they hit middle age.
The facts are if you track most of the top athletes in the world most of their careers were cut short because of injuries. Many spend the rest of their lives dealing with chronic pain, a host of surgeries, pain killer addictions, not to mention poor overall health including psychological disorders, emotional challenges, and weight problems.
If the biggest, best and brightest athletes in the world are following diets and exercise routines that compromise their lives does it make any sense for “Normal People” to use
these examples as guidelines.
Think about it...
If Diets really worked,
Why do they keep making new ones?
How many people do you know that went on a diet,
lost a ton of weight and then
proceeded to gain it all back?
How many gained it back and put on even more weight than they started with?
The diet industry keeps making billions of dollars because diets never deal with the cause of weight gain. Well it’s great for the industry the sad part is people keep buying into the whole diet program.
It’s like Charlie Brown going to kick the football and Lucy always pulls the ball away and he falls on his butt.
You might have been on a diet yourself, lost a bunch of weight, got excited and then a few months later found you were heavier than before.
Or maybe you were just about to breakthrough a personal best in the gym and BOOM!!! you get injured, put out your back, blow a hamstring, or catch a cold.
Have you every wondered
why this happens?
Why do we as a species keep getting fatter, use more and more drugs, take more and more pills, potions and see more experts and specialists than ever before and wind up sick, overweight, in chronic pain and unhappy?
Yes we live longer today then ever before a fact that the medical industry proudly promotes; but what kind of life is it when every cent you make is going into a system that profits from you being sick, having surgery, or staying on medicine designed to treat your symptoms but not the real cause of your problems?
According a study done by the world health organization (WHO) in 2010 the total amount of money spent on healthcare in the world was 6,458 Trillion Dollars or just over 10 percent of the World GDP.
The United States accounts for over 44% of the world’s expenditures in health care yet the don’t even rank in the top 40 nations with the healthiest populations.
What’s really shocking is that America has the highest obesity rates in the world and almost all of the money spent in America on healthcare is after you have gotten diabetes, heart disease, cancer or some other debilitating condition.
Does this seem insane?
But if everybody is doing it, we tend not to notice. Or we defend it, or better yet we rationalize it but at the end of the day... Deep down we all know the truth.
Nobody is going to take care of your health better than you.
Everybody knows the system is broken
Everybody feels like the next diet is really an act of desperation but only a few people dare to look at the REAL problem.
Let’s get personal for a minute because what I am going to share with you can keep you off the diet roller coaster for the rest of your days.
First like most dieters - I was setting myself up for failure by starving myself to get in to shape... This is the OLD Way of dieting and guaranteed to set you up for a crash in the future. I went through it, my colleagues went through it and millions of people are going through it right now... Please don’t be one of them!
You see Like Most People
I hadn’t yet learned the difference between fitness and health.
I hadn’t learned that you can’t starve your way to excellence.
I hadn’t learned that fitness is a component of health.
I hadn’t learned how to truly build up my fitness levels AND my health & vitality level.
Like most people I spent my early years of training I followed all the “Experts”. While I built a decent body I never could strip away the final layer of bodyfat.
Frustrated with myself, and the fitness and performance industry at large I was determined to find a radical new way to improve my body and I was willing to do whatever it took to achieve it.
I even experimented with drugs - they worked and gave me quick results while on them but when I came off I looked worse than before and the side effects were simply not worth the gains they promised.

You see, like most high performers in western society we are taught to win at all costs, pay the price, work harder, longer then the next guy and you’ll succeed. While that’s true to some extent the reality is there is a price to be paid and that price is your health.
In my quest for excellence I experimented with every diet you can imagine, tried all the routines, was coached by the best coaches in the industry and during my career I pushed my mind, body and soul to the absolute limits.
My pursuit of excellence taught me many lessons and I did learn about what works, what doesn’t, but there I was just 3 months after reaching the pinnacle of physical perfection a fat out of shape blob of confusion. I discovered the dark side of unbalanced success and I want to help you avoid stepping over metabolic cliff of oblivion.
Like many people you and I both know, I had sacrificed my health in pursuit of my dreams and I know that a lot of people make the same mistakes I made. Perhaps your one of them and can relate to my story.
The reality is in today’s fast paced world of every increasing complexity it makes no difference whether you are an athlete, an entrepreneur, or a homemaker taking care of the kids. Somewhere we got it wrong. Somehow we forgot about this amazing machine called the human body and the attention it needs.
Even though I had achieved what everyone thought was success,
I knew there was something off in my program.
My body showed it, my heart knew it, and my soul screamed for answers.
At my lowest point, I met a remarkable man by the name of Dr. Michael O’Brien and he taught how to build the body from the inside out.
Michael was famous for rebuilding thousands of people from hopeless conditions.
His most famous client Dr. Bernard Jensen who outlines in his book “Come Alive” how Michael helped him go from a 78 pound man at 85 years old with cancer metastasized to the bone with no hope of survival to a vibrant man 40 pounds heavier in just 8 weeks and 1 day later.
Unlike the top training and dietary coaches I had worked with in the past Michael shared with me how to build the body from the inside out.
I followed his routine and in 6 months I had regained by health, my body and my fitness level.
